International Trade Tensions

Publication date:
Tuesday 13 August 2019

Since mid-2018, the world has been involved in escalating trade tensions, which involve China, the United States and several of their main trading partners. In a previous study, the CEI analysed whether the change in market access conditions for some products originated in countries involved in these tensions represented, in the short term, an eventual opportunity for Argentine goods and detected potential opportunities for more than 300 products (466 at product –country level).

This report shows that 193 of the 466 potential opportunities were seized, representing an increase in trade of US$ 595 million in 2018, compared to 2017, and of US$ 428 million if the first four months of 2019 and 2018 are compared.
